What Is Clenbuterol
Clen (also known as just «Bute») is a Beta-2 agonist. It’s a powerful cutting gear of non-steroidal nature. Clenbuterol is probably the only extremely potent weight loss substance, that is:
- Not a steroid (doesn’t mess with your sex hormones at all);
- Generally well tolerated by humans (popular among both male and female athletes);
- Doesn’t require PCT (because it doesn’t suppress your Testosterone);
- Doesn’t require an injection (it’s oral).
How Clenbuterol Works
In an oversimplified explanation, it makes your body produce more energy through temperature increase and fat burning. It alters your metabolic rate by binding to the same receptors that adrenalin (and epinephrine) bind to. As a result, you get a whole bunch of benefits. That’s why Clenbuterol made its way from dirty cow farms in China to the Olympics and Hollywood A-listers Gucci bags. Here they are – one by one, both contradictory and unarguable.
Clenbuterol doesn’t affect your fat cells directly. It makes your whole body produce more energy by multiple tricks and makes your physique leaner indirectly. It raises your body temperature by about 0,5 – 1 degrees, so your cells waste more energy on it. Also, it boosts your whole metabolism by altering the function of mitochondria in the cells. As a result, you get:
- Fat-melting effect (no guarantees, but there are cases of about 10 pounds weight loss in a matter of weeks);
- Leaner physique (with all the small muscle groups popping out);
- Vascularity increase (you actually can see your veins that were covered with fat before).
Multiple studies like this one proved the lipolytic (fat burning) properties of Clen. This particular study states that WADA had reasons to ban Clenbuterol from all the major sports, making it an excellent compound for your personal off-stage use.
It’s a questionable effect, but anecdotally, it’s one of the best things about Clenbuterol. You simply don’t want to eat. Like, at all. You still can, but it takes a little willpower to chew on anything. In general, that’s a nasty effect, but you can use it to your advantage during the cutting cycle.
Unfortunately, the medical data on appetite loss gives no clear answers. Here experts say that participants of the study didn’t report any appetite changes. And in another study here, other experts claim that appetite loss was mentioned shortly after the administration.
Other Clenbuterol Benefits
I hope you didn’t expect any other benefits from a cutting compound. It makes you lean and melts the fat away – what else to wish for? Anecdotally, the list of Clenbuterol benefits is endless, but I won’t include them here since most of them contradict each other. For instance:
- You can be more energetic – or more lethargic on Clen;
- Your Strength can skyrocket and take your weights up – or you can experience a severe decrease in Strength (which is a logical side effect);
- Your sex life can get a significant boost – or stay untouched at all.
None of the additional effects should bother you on a cutting cycle. Clen defines your relationship with food and gives you a chance to assert dominance over those pancakes. That’s it. Everything else should be triggered with other kinds of gear.

Clenbuterol For Women
If Britney «it’s Britney, bitch» Spears could take it – so can you. Clenbuterol is absolutely safe for female athletes and bares all the same risks that it has for male bodybuilders.
Clenbuterol can’t cause virilization or alter your hormonal balance. It’s a female-friendly compound.
Clenbuterol Female Dose
it’s about 20mcg ED or in a different protocol that you prefer. There’s no need to adjust the dose to the minimal male dosage like you would have to with AAS. It’s a different kind of compound.
Clenbuterol DosageFor Fat Loss
Finally, to practice – and that’s a crucial one:
Your Clenbuterol dose can be anything from 10mcg to 150mcg.
What’s the point in a ratio THAT wide? You should climb it like a little ladder. The three reasons not to say «fuck your ladder» now are:
You probably don’t know shit about your health. A moderate dose can literally kill you in minutes if you have an arrhythmia, pre-existing heart problems, blood clots, and so on. The list of cardiovascular counter-indications is infinite.
I know that most athletes are way too lazy to go for a full heart check at the hospital before a cycle. In a perfect world, that’s exactly what you should do – I strongly recommend learning your heart condition before ANY cycle.
However, we don’t live in a perfect world, and the most popular approach is, sadly, «fuck it, I’ll be fine». With Clen dosing, there’s a chance that no, you won’t be fine at all.
Your Source Can Be Malicious
You don’t know shit about your exact Clenbuterol dosing. The quality of about 90% of all Clen is questionable. The pack can say that you have 50mcg in one pill, but it will be, in fact, 20mcg. Or 90mcg. Or whatever. You won’t go to the laboratory with it, we both know it.
Your Clen Dose Is NOT Related To Your Size
Naturally, most athletes have the same kind of thought pattern before the cycle: «I’m a massive dude, so I’ll take a bit more than average», or «I’m just a beginner, I’m small, I’ll just take a half of the recommended dose». Nope, doesn’t work like that with Clen. A whole bunch of your stats, including normal BP, general CNS condition, veins health, and so on, define your personal response to the compound.
Unfortunately, you have to waste about a week of your precious time to reduce all these risks, which brings us back to the little ladder of survival instinct.
Your perfect first Clenbuterol cycle should look like this:

Yes, you CAN add a little bit every day. You will feel the effects immediately. All the benefits will take a little more to arrive, but the effects will be notable soon after the administration.
And yes, just 5mcg (not even a baby dose for most other compounds) is enough to feel the difference. Clenbuterol is one extremely potent gear.
Another important detail that you should’ve noticed is that you can double your dose in the last weeks of the cycle. It’s not a mistake in the table – you will have to do it because of tolerance development.
Your body gets used to Clenbuterol. It’s an arguable thing, and many athletes say that it’s all mental, but we’re not here to answer existential questions.
At some point in your cycle, you start to get less notable effects, whatever are the reasons behind it.
The only reaction you will have to the same amount of Clen by week 3 is «meh, I’ve seen it, nothing special», even though it worked perfectly in the first two weeks. You need to constantly surprise your body throughout the cycle to fight the effect:
Add a little (about 10-15mcg) every week ON TOP of your regular balanced dose if you feel that your Clen has suddenly stopped working.
You can also try to introduce Ketotifen to the cycle – it can help with the tolerance thing, and it’s basically side effects-free.
Clenbuterol Pauses In The Cycle
Many athletes counter tolerance with a different approach and take pauses during the cycle. Unfortunately, you’ll have to experiment with it yourself:
- The famous 2 weeks on – 2 weeks off protocol can strip you from all the effects;
- Another widespread 2 days on – 2 days off protocol sounds more reasonable, only until you learn that Clenbuterol’s half-life is about 36 hours.
The first anecdotal solution is counter-effective; the second is plain dumb. To find the most comfortable pause duration, try different ones, and watch out for the effects. You can feel good on a week on – week off one, or take it with 3 days rest. No one knows until you try. Unfortunately, we don’t have any medical data to rely on.
Clen is not a steroid. It will not affect your sex hormone levels, it can’t give you gynecomastia, and it won’t work in any kind of synergy with anabolic steroids. It acts in a different domain and alters other processes in your body.
You can run Clenbuterol with literally any kind of gear you want and add it to any of your cycles until it’s safe – it won’t affect your stack.
Anecdotally, the only anabolic steroid that seems to create some kind of mutual boost with Clenbuterol is Trenbolone in small doses. Tren can give you a good body recomposition with lean gains, while Clenbuterol will get rid of all excessive fat. Here is how a protocol can look like:

If you want to add Tren to the cycle, make sure that you have all the aromatase inhibitors (like Aromasin or Arimidex), PCT compounds (Clomid or Nolvadex), and Caber (Cabergoline) on hands. It’s a full steroidal cycle, a men-only thing because your sex hormones get hit a lot.
I highly recommend trying Clenbuterol solo first. See how things work, find your sweet spot, feel the isolated effect – and maybe add it to your AAS stack later. No need to dive into the void of unpredictable side effects early.
You also should know that Tren+Clen stack can fuck your heart up if you have pre-existing conditions. Please make sure that your heart health ALLOWS you to run two potentially harmful compounds at a time. Otherwise, it’s just a life-threatening thing.
Clenbuterol Pills Or Liquid – Which Is Better
There’s no official data on this one, for obvious reasons, but anecdotally, LIQUID FORM IS BETTER. Just in terms of convenience and risk management:
- Clen pills are tiny, and the most popular dosing nowadays is 20 or 50mcg. You’ll have to cut your pill into 3 or even 5 parts, which is extremely hard. It will start to crumble. With liquid, you will just need to be precise with drops. Most liquid Clen droppers have measuring marks on them;
- Pills are cheaper, easier to get, but as a result – pills are often faked by malicious shops and laboratories. You still have zero guarantees with liquid, but it’s anecdotally a more reliable and precise form.
Of course, you can go with whatever form you are more comfortable with. I’ll be happy for you if you will find a right, not bunk and not underdosed pill form.
Oh, and definitely not an overdosed one! There are multiple drops with 200ml dosing, which is an express ticket to the cemetery – with no stop at the hospital. I hope they are at least underdosing it, but you still have to be careful. Clen’s side effects are not a joke.
Clenbuterol Side Effects
The non-steroidal nature doesn’t save you from a ton of bad sides. Here they are – and how to counter them.
Cardiovascular Side Effects
Probably the worst part of the whole list. Your heart rate can increase up to 180, and that’s one insane and unhealthy figure. You can get heart palpitations and atrial fibrillation (aka arrhythmia) if you abuse the thing. That’s a straight way to the ER. It’s not even an exaggeration – there are multiple examples, like this study, of Clen being a reason for hospitalization.
Unfortunately, you can’t get away from all the risks. You have two options: workout with an increased heart rate or drop the thing. That’s why I mention full heart check so many times in this article: in a healthy person with a generally healthy heart, it won’t do much damage. However, it can give your pre-existing problems a significant boost.
Quite like Trensomnia, but not that bad in general. It still can strip you from a good rest, though. Some athletes report waking up in the middle of the night only because of Clenbuterol.
The effect gets even worse since administering Clenbuterol before sleep is a common practice. You sleep through other adverse side effects and wake up to mostly benefits. Unfortunately, this way, you sacrifice your sleeping schedule.
You can combat Clensomnia with Melatonin (the good hormone you produce during the deep sleep phase) or ZMA Night (a melatonin-based sleep normalization compound).
You know “sweaty palms”, the shaky sensation when you climb on something high, start a fight, or about to get on stage? We all have different reasons to experience an adrenaline rush, but most people have faced it.
Clenbuterol binds to the same receptors that Adrenaline does. As a result, you will get the shaky sensation even in the calmest, safe and relaxing atmosphere, like there’s a huge rhino charging right at you.
No, mentally, you are most likely to be calm. It’s your hands that get the effect. Almost like Parkinson’s disease, they can shake uncontrollably for hours.
Luckily, some athletes get this effect, and some don’t. Most anecdotal reports state that it’s not a REAL tremor, but the one you can control with a little more consciousness.
Since you’ve just read how awesome that is, this effect’s two-sided nature needs a little explanation. No appetite can be a side effect for a simple reason: you won’t get enough calories to maintain your regular bodybuilding routine. Fewer calories = less energy for your muscle.
Even though a calorie deficit is a perfectly normal, widespread, and unarguably effective thing in weight loss, on Clen, you don’t want to eat at all. It’s even hard to maintain a -300 or -400 deficit. You can force-feed yourself furiously, but other Clen side effects still turn it into a bad thing for your workouts.
Personal Opinion on Clenbuterol
It’s the most abused weight loss and performance enhancement on the market. Period. Don’t be an idiot who’ll take another bed in the hospital after a Clen-induced heart attack. Even though there are no other non-steroidal options with this level of efficiency. Even though you can see your body transformation week by week and know that perfection has no boundaries. Even though it makes the whole cutting process more comfortable and satisfying, don’t be an idiot.
And don’t be a different kind of an idiot as well – Clen will work only if YOU work. It’s not a magic pill. You still need to exercise, do your cardio, maintain a proper calorie deficit, keep your diet clean, and stay away from fast food. Don’t expect miracles to happen while you’re munching on cheeseburgers on your couch.
